Strong Blooded Horse Winter Sale

In spite of the arctic blast that slammed Delaware, Ohio with subzero temperatures, the Winter Mixed Sale was among the strongest in the past 12 years. The Jailhouse Jesse gelding Sand Royal Blu topped the sale at $29,000. The stakes winning trotter moved from Ty Loy’s barn at Northfield Park to Kurt Sugg’s.

Rene Allard brought a large consignment of quality raceway horses, but it was his broodmare prospect, Majic Trend, that attracted the most attention. The stakes winning daughter of Kadabra with a mark of 4,1.54.2f and earnings of $191,177 went to Hickory Hollow Farm in Grabil, Indiana for $18,000. The fancy Somebeachsomewhere gelding, Conors Concord, was purchased from the same consignment for $15,000 by Bruce Soulsby of Ohio. Bidding was also spirited for the ultra-consistent 12 year old $12,500 claiming trotter Get Packin that went to Brandon Simpson of New York for $15,000. Then Rene Allard turned around and purchased the royally bred $15,000 claiming mare Caviart Cara for $17,000 from Gary Evans.

A number of nice broodmares and early yearlings were sold, led by a Kentucky bred colt at $15,500. Stacey Ruddick signed the ticket for the son of Northern Kid from the Winterwood Farm consignment.
